Education and Research

The Voice and Trauma Research and Connection Group, Inc. is a non-profit organization organized into two main branches: education and research.

Our education department is the Voice and Trauma Institute

Details to come soon!

Our research department is the Voice and Trauma Lab

The Voice and Trauma Lab will be conducting a three-part research study (Pre-registration #124763 at AsPredicted) titled 'Voice, Trauma, Physiology, and Perception: Connecting the Dots'. This study is approved by Pearl IRB (Protocol ID 2023-0032).

Over three study phases, the research team will investigate how trauma history is related to reactivity (both in general and at trauma recall) to autonomic nervous system activity and vocal acoustics.

Later stages of the study will investigate whether people can identify those with a history of trauma simply by hearing their voice, and if listeners with predatory intensions utilize voice cues to target individuals.

We are grateful to our wonderful research associates Andrew Watkins and Kayla Toscano who are helping us make this happen!
